Low-Cost Spay/Neuter for Greater Cincinnati,
Northern Kentucky and Southeast Indiana

We believe that a NO-KILL community in Greater Cincinnati is achievable.  It takes both spay/neuter and adoption of homeless animals to get us there.  For the spay/neuter part, United Coalition for Animals (UCAN) operates a nonprofit, low-cost spay/neuter clinic to service low-income pet owners, people caring for free-roaming cats, rescue groups, and animal shelters.  UCAN is a 501(c)(3) charitable organization and offers low-cost services thanks to generous private donations and grants.

UCAN’s vision is a world in which every cat and dog lives to find a loving home and every resident has access to affordable spay/neuter services.

UCAN’s mission is to provide professional, low-cost spay/neuter services to end the unnecessary deaths of homeless cats and dogs in shelters in the Greater Cincinnati area, including surrounding counties in Southwest Ohio, Northern Kentucky and Southeastern Indiana.

To schedule an appointment, please call 721-PETS (7387) between 9 a.m. and 3 p.m. Monday through Friday, or click here.

Help End Euthanasia of Greater Cincinnati Dogs and Cats

TOO MANY PETS.  TOO FEW HOMES.       about this photo

Over 70,000 puppies and kittens are born each day in the U.S. – over half of them are “oops” (unintended litters).  Millions of these unwanted, innocent dogs and cats are abandoned.  Some fend for themselves on the streets. Many are abused or neglected. Most end up in overcrowded, underfunded county shelters where, each year, over 4 million of them not lucky enough to be quickly adopted are euthanized.  Our local Hamilton County SPCA, alone, takes in an average of 36 animals a day.

The solution is simple. Spaying and neutering dogs and cats prevents unwanted births and reduces the number of animals that will wind up in shelters. UCAN has completed more than 80,000 spay and neuter surgeries since it opened in April 2007, preventing hundreds of thousands of unwanted kitten and puppy births.

*UCAN is able to provide these low-cost services for income qualified individuals because it is a nonprofit, charitable organization that receives generous donations and grants.  It is best for your pet to establish an on-going relationship with a full-service veterinarian who will be familiar with your pet’s history and be able to treat illnesses or injuries. Our clinics are solely for people who cannot afford a full-service veterinarian because they are on a fixed income (social security, disability, etc.), their income is below the Federal poverty rate, or they are unemployed. We do not treat sick or injured pets; you must see a full-service veterinarian for treatment.

12,000th Surgery of 2015!!

There was a day that the clinic hoped to break 10,000 surgeries in a year. Now, they break 12,000! Congratulations to the hard-working staff, they are truly amazing.

UCAN operates a high-volume, low-cost spay/neuter clinic offering free transports from several locations in Southwestern Ohio, trying to ensure everyone has access to the veterinary services offered at the clinic.

12,000th Surgery Mickey was lucky 12,000 and his brother, Manski, was lucky 12,001! They both received great care and love from our vet tech, Kate!

Gifts that Save Lives!!!

Birthday Card This year, instead of a gift for someone who has everything or is hard to buy for, make a tax-deductible donation in their name instead!  We will send them a cute dog or cat card notifying them of your generous donation on their behalf.  You both get the satisfaction of knowing that your donation will help provide spay/neuter surgery to dogs and cats who need it to end the deaths of homeless animals in Greater Cincinnati shelters. We will send cards for birthdays, weddings, anniversaries, Mother’s Day and other holidays.  Please invite your friends and family to do the same and turn special events into an opportunity to give back to the community and save the lives of cats and dogs!
